We interrupt your day to bring you the newest Silent Movie Star!
Phoebe and I have been having a little fun with iPhone video apps today.
I can't believe I'm about to write this but in just over 2 months my tiny little girl will be ONE YEAR OLD! I'm freaking out. This year has gone so quickly. I've tried convincing her to stay this age forever but girlfriend is not having it. So, I guess the only thing left to do is to give in and just go with it.
That means I get to....
PLAN A PARTY and BUY COOL PRESENTS!
So, of course, I spent hours pouring over Pinterest looking for inspiration and I found it in various shades of pink and gold. However, I've decided to buck the tassle and gold polka dot baby trends and take inspiration from our neighborhood instead.
We'll be throwing Phoebe a Fiesta! Brightly colored banners, piñatas (mostly for the adults and other kids, she's not quite big enough to beat up a pinata yet thank goodness) and amazing Mexican food. I did some browsing around online and WOW check this party out.
You seriously need to click through and check everything out. It's amazing. Of course we'll need to scale it back a bit but HOLY INSPIRATION.
Oh and can we talk about these piñata cookies?
Now, let's see if I can DIY my way through it all in the next couple of months. Yikes. I can't be the only one with delusions of DIY party planning grandeur right? Ok friends, who's up for a Sangria and banner making party?
Little Miss Phoebe is 9 months old now. Which means she's not so little anymore! *cries*
Let's just look back to when she was 9 months into her lease inside my tummy. Oh wow, hello pink hair. I miss you.
These days Phoebe is pulling herself up to stand, crawling like crazy and keeping me running around the house like a loon. She chatters away and seems mostly attached to her books instead of the rest of her toys, which makes me so very happy.
She's wearing mostly 6-12 month sizes these days although she can still fit into the occasional 3 or 6 month onesie. Baby clothes are weird. Oh and she loves waving to strangers and dogs and babies on TV.
We're about to start transitioning this little lady into her crib for naps and nights which is not going to be fun. So, you know, pray for me or something.
I've been bitten by the gold dot bug. It all started with the gold polka dot bows I bought for Phoebe from Bloomies Handmade. Now I want everything to be covered in gold dots! Lucky for me I'm not alone and there are SO many things covered in glittery gold dots these days, especially for the littles! And while I may not be able to pull off this trend head to toe, I can cover my baby in it!
Here are a few of my favorite glistening dot finds!
First up are these AMAZING Freshly Picked Moccasins. If you want them hurry up and buy them because they are a limited edition!
How cute are these adorable little bubble shorts?
I daydream of the perfect little outfit combos I'd make with these leggings! Maybe we need a mommy and me pair?
Sometimes just a touch of glitter is all that's needed!
Here's another piece we need in Mommy and Me size.
Speaking of Mommy & Me sizes, we don't have to be left out of the Gold Dot trend. I fell head over heels for this dress.
This top might be a better fit for everyday though!
Are you on the Gold Dot bandwagon? What are some of your favorite finds?
When we first brought Phoebe home from the hospital we used Pampers Swaddlers. The hospital had given us a TON of them and free is one of my favorite things! They worked just fine and we were happy with them.
Early on in my pregnancy I had plans for how this whole baby thing would look. Thanks to stylish moms on Instagram visions of chevron and hand knitted dolls danced through my head. And then, of course, there were the diapers. To be specific, Honest diapers. Oh they were so pretty.
See - Pretty!
You mean my child doesnt have to have Winnie the Pooh or Bert and Ernie printed all over their butts? I could cover them, instead, with pretty hearts or edgy skulls! Of course, I signed right up for the free trial on their website.
I fell in love immediately with my little sample pack and set up my recurring subscription of stylish diapers. They looked so good in my nursery! My daughter would look so "now" oh and hey, they are all natural etc - bonus!
Fast forward a few months to when the free Pampers ran out and we began using the adorable Honest diapers.
Every time Phoebe wore one an outfit was ruined. That I could deal with if I had to. I mean what's a little more laundry? But for some reason she seemed to develop the worst diaper rash whenever we used them. We tried for a little while longer but it just wasn't worth it. We switched back to Pampers and things have been so much better. To be fair, we also tried Huggies and she has the same leakage but no diaper rash. Maybe my daughter has industrial size poos and a body that needs chemicals?
Don't get me wrong. I'm on board with the brand and what they stand for. Their customer service was stellar and their wipes are awesome. Like my title says, I think I'm the only mom that had this problem.
I still look longingly at all of the Instagram photos of cute little baby butts decked out in adorable seasonal patterns (their designers seriously have that down!) but I'll suffer through some less fashionable cartoon characters on her butt if it means she's comfortable and her outfits stay clean.
**Note: Pampers has nothing to do with this post. It isn't sponsored at all.
Now I know I am a Mom.
You know, just in case the cooing baby attatched to me left any room for doubt.
First, I was lusting over a fancy space age looking high chair and now I am "oohing and aahing" over a stroller. Don't worry, I still love grown up shoes and sparkly nail polishes. I'm still here, inside this mom-shell.
San Francisco is not especially stroller friendly. There are tiny crowded side walks and busy tiny restaurants. That means maneuvering a giant stroller around garners you lots of annoying side-eyes from hipsters waiting in line. Because that's all they do - wait in line and side-eye you.
I came across the Stokke Scoot and I think I'm in love. I mean, hello gorgeous Plum color!
Phoebe will be graduating to a "big girl" stroller soon and I'm hoping we can find a way to add this to our growing baby arsenal.
Now, what does momma have to sell on Craigslist to make this happen?
Me: "Ahh Phoebe is engrossed in chewing on her chew toy. I shall make some coffee and an English Muffin!" Delightful
Phoebe: "WAH Hey I'm over this get over here now!"
Me: Wanders over with Blackberry Jam covered English Muffin in mouth and picks up Phoebe
Phoebe: "Ah that's much better"
Me: Looks down and sees red all down the front of Phoebe's PJs. "Oh my god she's bleeding! WHAT HAPPENED??" Looks all over Phoebe trying to find massive headwound or other source of blood.
Phoebe: "You idiot you spilled Blackberry Jam on me!"
Even though Phoebe is 5 months old I still get a little jittery when I take her out.
What if she starts screaming in a cafe?
What if she has a giant poo-bomb and I have forgotten to pack an extra outfit? Or the wipes are all dried out in my stupid wipe case.
What if she drinks all the milk I brought with me and I actually have to breastfeed out in public?
What if she gets angry while I'm changing her diaper in the restroom and screams bloody murder causing a "helpful" citizen to accuse me of hurting my child. <--- That's actually happened. See, not all crazy fears.
Don't get me wrong, we get out of the house alot. We go on plenty of walks and Target trips all without incident. But if I'm getting a little bored of just doing those things I'm sure she is.
Even though it's really meant for brand new moms to do upon coming home I've decided to take part in the Rookie Moms 52 Week Challenges. I think it will help my confidence when it comes to taking Phoebe to new places and it will give me some ideas. Because my tired self is running out of them.
The first up is to "Pretend like you're in Europe." We'll be taking that on next week and I shall report back with all of the gory details.
